Do you make excuses?

weekly memo

Last week, we talked about consistency when it comes to your health.

What about excuses?

I heard a trainer say, “Excuses are the nails that build the house of failure.”

Does that hit you over the head like it did for me?

When it comes to eating well or moving your body, do you say things like:

  • I don’t have time.
  • It’s too hard.
  • Eating well and exercising take too much time.
  • I’m too tired.
  • I have to take care of my kids, parents, partner, etc.
  • I have too much to do.
  • I’m really busy.
  • I have work that needs to get done.
  • I hate to cook.
  • I don’t like to exercise.
  • I don’t like healthy food.

I challenge you to think differently about making changes to your nutrition and exercise.

What if you could say the same things as my clients:

  • I have more energy.
  • I’m sleeping better.
  • Nutritious meals are doable.
  • My digestion is so much better.
  • My bloating has gone away.
  • I have more bandwidth to deal with my kids.
  • My clothes fit better.
  • My cravings for sugar and bread have gone away.
  • When I go for a walk, I feel amazing.  My energy levels improve.

What if you flipped the script and viewed eating well and moving your body as the key to having energy, an improved mood, the ability to think clearly and complete your work, and better sleep?

We think we don’t have the time to eat well and walk because we have so many “tasks” to complete.

The reality is that when you eat well and nourish your body, you will have more capacity to show up and care for people, complete your work, and manage the stressors in your life.

When you make excuses not to support the foundations of great health, you ensure that you do not feel your best.

I know for many women putting yourself first isn’t always easy.

You juggle so many responsibilities in your life.

I promise if you don’t allow yourself the excuses that put you last on your list, it will be life changing not only for you but those you have to care for.

It may seem like food and exercise belong at the bottom of your list.

Almost as though they’re a luxury or for some a punishment.

I promise, if you put them at the top of your priority list, you’ll see the downstream effects of it.
