I recently worked as a support nutritionist in a 5-week sugar detox program.

 

One of the students is David, a 65-year-old man with type 2 diabetes who is on metformin.

 

He lost 13 pounds.

 

On the last night of the call, he told us that his doctor never told him that changing his nutrition could vastly improve his health.

 

He had no idea that drinking soda all day and eating a diet full of refined carbohydrates was making his type 2 diabetes worse.

 

He didn't know he could feel this good and have energy.

 

I wanted to cry.

 

Our medical system is failing people.

 

David’s been a type 2 diabetic for over ten years.

 

He’s struggled with poor sleep, achy joints, lack of energy, and the list goes on and on.
